Both Barcelona Bites and Johanna Writes were just featured in an article about bloggers in the magazine Metropolitan! In the meantime, in less than a week I'll be back in my Barcelona apartment! It's been a fun summer but it's most definitely time to leave Utah. I have started to talk funny and although I am not yet wearing walking shorts, I do roam around town wearing my maternity clothes from last summer and something about that doesn't seem quite right...
So Utah, I leave you with these photos I took a few days ago on a little Salt Lake City whirlwind excursion of Mormon kitsch that my aunt Liz and I took. First we dined on Coca Cola roast pork at the Lion House, Brigham Young's former residence where he lived with 12 of his wives and miscellaneous children. I wonder if they dined off of trays as well?
The state mascot with the towering LDS church office buildings behind it.
Next we journeyed on to the Gilgal Gardens, a sculpture park created by a Mormon businessman in his backyard in the 1950s. The gardens are filled with sculptures and engraved scripture, most of it related to LDS themes.
Look! It's the Sphinx with the face of Joseph Smith (founder of Mormonism).
It definitely leaves one pondering.
omg. humpht. never seen the gilgan gardens... guess that's really no problem at all, seeing this!
